New Ventures in Sweden

At Marcus Webb Associates, we have extensive experience in sourcing and placing talent internationally. However, this project in Sweden required in-depth research, strategic networking, and a thorough understanding of the local market to ensure success.

A UK-based client had secured new business with Swedish automotive OEMs and required local support to deliver these programmes effectively. The objective was to engage contractors and consultants to work onsite with customers, providing specialist expertise.

The ideal candidates needed experience working with the specific OEMs, an understanding of Swedish culture and language, and the right technical skills to excel in their roles.

Overcoming Market Challenges

The initial challenges centred around understanding the key differences between the Swedish and UK markets—particularly how contractors and consultants operate and the typical rates of pay. Practical considerations such as contract terms, taxation, and compliance requirements followed later, but the first priority was gathering the right information to set the project on the right course.

We began by leveraging our network to gain insights into working visas, local pay structures, and the availability of talent. Traditional networking proved invaluable, enabling us to build a strong foundation of contacts who could support our efforts.
