A small engineering business in Hampshire had been looking for an Applications engineer for about a year until they engaged the support of Marcus Webb Associates. The hiring manager wanted to engage with other suppliers and use different methods to hire the individual but a colleague of theirs recommended Marcus Webb Associates.
We spoke in detail with the hiring managers and decision makers to completely understand the vacancy and the requirements of the candidates, but also gave advice to open the requirements up and understand the potential “trade-offs” that could be accepted.
With this new greater understanding of the scope of the role, suitable candidates were identified, screened and represented to the client. A shortlist was interviewed and within 2 months the role was offered and accepted – it was Christmas so things moved a little slower…
Building and keeping relationships going is all part of what an excellent recruitment consultant does. One of the client’s managers had worked with one of our consultants for many years. They have always kept in contact and within the last 4 months they have placed two further engineers on a permanent and contract basis, one of which took 1 week to find!
Longevity of relationships really helps in many walks of life. Trust and honesty helped those tough questions to be asked at times and that is what can make the difference with tough projects with rigid needs.
